Cement

Cement is around us everywhere. But most people hardly ever think about it.  Unless you are in the construction business and cement is a critical element you need in every project.

Puerto Rico needs massive amounts of cement as it continues rebuilding its hurricane-damaged infrastructure and recent earthquake damage.  Cement is just one of the construction materials that Eagle Logistics brings in for use on the island.

The need for importing heavy construction materials was highlighted recently when a completely new customer reached out to Eagle for help.  The firm’s owner presented the Eagle team with the challenge of getting 15 containers of cement delivered – fast.

Eagle received the request for a bid on a Monday.  Eagle’s proposal was submitted the next day and approved on Wednesday.  Eagle arranged for all of that cement to be delivered on Thursday to the Jacksonville, FL port for shipping.  Because of Eagle’s long relationships with ocean vessels going to Puerto Rico, the shipment was scheduled for a Friday sailing.  It was delivered to Puerto Rico for pickup on the following Monday.  Eight days from the first phone call to finish.

The cement [manufacturer/distributer] was delighted with the result.  And the Eagle team got to demonstrate for a new customer what it does all day, every day: Proving that Eagle can handle any load, large or small headed for Puerto Rico.
